Okay, okay – I’m a few days late on my posts.  Cut me a break though – it’s was my birthday.  It’s not to say that I wasn’t drinking on my Birthday, in fact there are probably some pictures that I wish to have un-taken, but isn’t this the one day of the year that people cut you some slack?

As part of my birthday gift, today’s drink was handcrafted by the beautiful Kathryn.  It’s quite amazing to me that she knows how to use a glass that wasn’t built for vino – so it’s even more impressive that it contains scotch!  She’s just showing off.

  • 1.5 ounce scotch
  • o.75 ounce of Cointreau
  • 2 or 3 dashes orange bitters

Place everything in a shaker over ice and go nuts.  Serve in a chilled martini glass over ice.

Dave’s Thoughts:

  • Apparently a Scottish drink… Bairn means “child”… fun to say with a Scottish accent!
  • Combines the flavors of orange and scotch, and neither one overpowers the other.
  • Even if you are not a scotch drinker, this one may have potential for you.

Tasting Notes:

  • Dave’s Rating: 8/10
  • Strength: 8/10
  • Sweetness: 7/10
  • Combining the wonderful flavors of orange and scotch into a great cocktail.
