Today’s drink is the Casablanca.  New to the blog, but I made this one before when I last entered my cocktail of the day fad.  This is a great rum martini with a unique flavor and should be sampled if you find yourself armed with a bottle of maraschino liqueur.

  • 2.5 ounces of light rum (Bacardi)
  • 0.5 ounce of Cointreau
  • 0.5 ounce of maraschino liqueur (Luxardo)
  • 0.5 ounce of fresh lime juice

Pour the ingredients over ice into a cocktail shaker, give it a vigorous shake and serve in a chilled martini glass.

Dave’s Thoughts:

  • You have the sweetness of Cointreau, the nuttiness of maraschino liqueur and the tartness of limes all in one.
  • If you have not tried it, maraschino liqueur is a delightful mixer made from the pressed skins of cherries.
  • The rum fades into the background and is not the star of this drink.

Tasting Notes:

  • Dave’s Rating: 9/10, one of the best rum martini’s out there.
  • Strength: 7/10
  • Sweetness: 5/10
  • Be swept off your feet and enjoy the Casablanca!

Kudos to Kathryn for the cool pic!
